Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland has been ruled out of the Australia tour of the New Zealand series
All-rounder Sutherland, who was recently featured in the Australian women’s ODD, complained of pain in her thigh after the previous round, and a subsequent scan revealed a stress response
Annabel Sutherland, who will be replaced in a 17-player squad by Victorian Molly Strano,
Sutherland will be left untouched in both the Trans-Tasman series and the remainder of the domestic 50-over season after suffering a stress reaction to his right-foot femur.
Sutherland out of New Zealand tour has created an opportunity for the off-spinner 28-year-old Strano, having played seven T20 matches for Australia but is yet to make his ODI debut.
Molly Strano leading wicket-taker in the ongoing Women’s National Cricket League now has a chance to show selectors she could make an impact in next year’s ODI World Cup, also to be played in New Zealand.
Sutherland had experienced “some unexplained posterior thigh pain” after the final round of WNCL matches, confirming the injury – Australian team doctor Philip Ing said
National Selector Sean Flegler said, “It is unfortunate that Annabelle has been left out of the series, but our medical team was able to quickly identify the issue, allowing herself to get away from it and with busy times To heal themselves.
