New Delhi: In the win against Punjab Kings in Mohali on Thursday, Shubman Gill was the highest run-scorer in Team Hardik. In this match, Gujarat defeated Punjab by 6 wickets. But former veteran Virender Sehwag is not at all happy with Gill’s attitude. In fact, only after completing fifty runs, Gill changed his batting gear and for this reason, Veeru termed Gill as selfish approach. In a conversation with a website, Sehwag warned Viru Gill to put his own ambition ahead of the team’s interest.

Sehwag said that due to this attitude, Gujarat could have lost the match as well. Gill scored 67 off 49 balls, but when did he reach his fifty? He played 41-42 balls for the half-century and after that scored 17 more runs in 7-8 balls from here. Gill accelerated his innings after completing his fifty. Had it not happened, Gujarat would have been chasing 17 runs in seven balls or the last over. He said that if he gives priority to his personal ambition before the interest of the team, then he will have to suffer a lot.

Sehwag Said to Bat at a Strike Rate of 200

He said that you cannot say that let me think about the first half-century. And then we will win the match. This is cricket. When you start thinking about your own achievements instead of team interest, then this game slaps you. You can’t think like that. Sehwag said that if Gill had adopted the post-fifties approach earlier and batted at a strike-rate of around 200, he could have scored fifty much earlier. With this, he could also save a lot of balls for his team.

By the way, after the match, Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya said that he does not want such a close game. He said that he wants his batsmen to score runs at a faster rate in the middle overs of the innings. After the captain’s gesture, it is expected that in the upcoming matches, Gujarat will not face such a situation that before the end of the match, the team wins only one ball first and the fans and the players sitting in the dugout remain breathless.
