Abu Nechim has Announced his Retirement from all Formats of Cricket
New Delhi. Abu Nechim, the first player to appear in the IPL from Assam, has announced his retirement from every format of cricket. Abu played the Under-19 World Cup for India in 2006. He played a key role in the victory against England in the semi-finals and took 4 wickets for 14 runs. He got a chance to play for Mumbai Indians in IPL in 2010. Abu stayed with this team for 4 seasons and in 2014 Royal Challengers Bangalore joined him. After that Riyan Parag reached IPL from Assam.

Abu Nechim was a part of the Mumbai Indians team that won the IPL title in 2013 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. However, he was the 12th man in the final against Chennai Super Kings. He got a chance to play only 2 matches in the whole season.

Speaking to Sports Star, Abu Nechim said, “Meeting Sachin Tendulkar sir for the first time during IPL in 2010 and sharing the dressing room with him was the biggest highlight of my career. I will cherish those moments.

Nechim Took 12 Wickets in IPL
Abu Nechim took a total of 12 wickets in 17 matches of IPL at an economy rate of 8.69. At the same time, he took 172 wickets in first class cricket, 65 in List-A and 78 wickets in T20. The 34-year-old pacer moved to Nagaland last season and was instrumental in getting the team into the elite group of the Ranji Trophy. However, he was not a part of any team this time.
He further added, “I have decided to move on from sports to make way for the youth. I think now is the right time to give chance to the youth. I have achieved my share of success. I bowled mostly on flat wickets in my career. It was nothing less than a challenge for me. But, I enjoyed every bit of it.” Abu Nechim further said that if he gets a chance, he would like to try his hand at coaching.
