Steven Smith averaged 113.5 in 7 tests at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) before the start of the 2nd test between Australia and India.

However, Smith’s love affair with MCG this time was short-lived. Ashwin foxed the Australian batsman once again with his guile as he was dismissed for 0.

This is 2nd time in the series that Smith has got out to Ashwin. Earlier in Adelaide also, Ashwin sent Smith back to pavilion for just 1.

Steven Smith’s Bradman like Record in MCG – Before the start of the 2nd test Smith averaged 62 in 74 tests overall. But his average in MCG goes pass even 100.

Smith has played 8 matches in MCG and has scored 908 runs at an average of 113.5 with 4 hundreds.

14.3 Ashwin to Smith, OUT – Smith glanced one to Pujara at leg gully. As per plan, Ashwin bowled one down the leg side and Smith could was caught by Pujara specially stationed for him at Leg-Gully.

Earlier Australia and India united to pay tribute to the late Dean Jones before the opening ball of the 2020 Boxing Day Test.

Jones tragically passed away aged 59 in September, with the former star recognised at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Australia’s captain Tim Paine led the charge with a number of players entering the ground with zinc on their lips and cheek, a symbolic pointer to ‘Deano’.
