R Ashwin Ready to Return for South Africa Series ODI

India spinner R Ashwin may be set to make a comeback in the ODI series against South Africa. After the ongoing Test matches. Ashwin played the last ODI for India in 2017.

A Return To ODI Team :-

According to a report in Cricbuzz – R Ashwin is setting to make a comeback in the ODI squad for the South Africa series, which has been trending since his return to limited-overs cricket that began with the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Ashwin picked up three wickets in two T20Is against New Zealand in India after the T20 World Cup and reportedly infuriated head coach Rahul Dravid and the think tank.

A Preparation For ODI WC Begins :-

India, who have a new white-ball captain in Rohit Sharma, are confident that they will begin preparations for the 2023 ODI World Cup, a domestic tournament played for them.

The biggest competition for a berth in Ashwin’s playing XI comes from Ravindra Jadeja, who is recovering from injury, and Axar Patel. Yuzvendra Chahal is confident of getting a look for the South Africa ODI.

Hardik Pandya’s Backup :-

Along with Ashwin, the national selectors under Chetan Sharma are also reportedly ready to bring in Venkatesh Iyer to the team as a backup for Hardik Pandya, whose fitness is also under question.

The selection committee is understanding to be waiting for Rohit Sharma’s fitness report. Before taken a final call on his ODI squad. If Rohit is not receiving, a stand-in captain will be naming.
