Sri Lankan yorker king Lasith Malinga can return to the Sri Lanka team for T20 World Cup

Lasith Malinga is considered one of the best fast bowlers of all time. In his illustrious career, the 37-year-old bowler has taken wickets for the team on several important occasions. Malinga has retired from Tests and ODIs. But he has not retired from T20. Under his leadership, the Sri Lankan team captured the ICC T20 World Cup title in the year 2014.

Malinga has retired from the Test format and One-Day International, but this experienced player can return to the Sri Lankan team in the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in India during October-November. Malinga was last seen in a Sri Lankan jersey in a T20 match against the West Indies in March 2020. He has not been a part of the team since then. If Malinga makes a comeback to Sri Lanka’s T20 team, his bowling attack will surely be strong.

Sri Lankan national selection committee chairman said

Sri Lankan national selection committee chairman Pramodya Wickramasinghe has confirmed that the management will soon meet Malinga about his future plans as he is keen to make the former captain a part of the T20 squad again. Pramodya Wickramasinghe told Morning Newspaper, “We will talk to Lasith soon. He is included in our plan for the upcoming T20 tours, including the upcoming T20 World Cup in October. “

He further said, ‘We must not forget that he is one of the greatest bowlers of our country. His records are excellent. There are two back-to-back T20 World Cups this year and next year. We are going to meet him in the next few days to discuss our plans.

Lasith Malinga responded that he is available for selection in the shortest format of the game. He said that I have retired from Test and ODI cricket but not from T20. In my career, I have proved on many occasions that I can come back after a long break and perform well for my country.
