India opener KL Rahul fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct on the third day of the fourth Test against England at The Oval.

KL Rahul Found Violating Article 2.8:

Rahul found to violated Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. Which deals with “showing dissatisfaction with the decision of an umpire during an international match”.

In addition, one demerit point added to Rahul’s disciplinary record. For which this was the first offense in a period of 24 months.

KL Rahul Shows Dissatisfaction With Being Caught Behind the Wicket After Review of DRS:

The incident happened in the 34th over of India’s second innings on Saturday. So when Rahul showed dissatisfaction with catch behind the wicket after reviewing the DRS.

KL Rahul Confessed to the Crime:

Rahul admitted the offense and accepted the ban proposed by Chris Broad of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees and confirmed by the ICC Cricket Operations Department in accordance with the COVID-19 Interim Sports Rules. There was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf, third umpire Michael Gough and fourth official Mike Burns made the allegations.

Level 1 violations carry a minimum fine of an official reprimand, a maximum fine of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

Note to Editors:

*When a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period. So they are converted into suspension points and a player is banned.

**Two suspension points equal a ban from one Test or two ODIs or two T20 Internationals. whoever comes first for the player

*** Demerit Points will remain on the disciplinary record of a player or player support personnel for a period of twenty-four (24) months from their application. after which they will be expelled.
