Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist on Thursday said he wants the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow its cricketers to participate in T20 leagues outside the country. Currently, the BCCI does not allow Indian players to participate in foreign T20 leagues such as Australia’s Big Bash League to maintain the uniqueness of the Indian Premier League (IPL) asked.

Gilchrist told reporters,

“It would be great (if Indian players are allowed to play in foreign T20 leagues), I personally feel that it will not take away the shine of IPL. This will only develop them as a ‘brand’ if they (Indian players) can play in Australia or South Africa.

He asked,

“I am not criticizing the IPL, but why don’t Indian players come and play in the Big Bash League? I never got an honest answer to this that some leagues are feeding every player in the world? Why doesn’t any Indian player play in other T20 leagues? I’m not saying this in a provocative sense, but is it a valid question?
