With this win, the Rohit brigade registered its biggest win over the Proteas in ODI World Cup history by a margin of 243 runs.
South Africa registered a shameful record in its name :-
In this match the Proteas scored their joint second lowest score in the 50 over format. Also, India gave South Africa its biggest defeat in terms of runs in the World Cup. South Africa’s lowest score in ODI came against Australia in 1993 when it was reduced to just 69 runs.
IND vs SA: Virat Kohli equaled Sachin Tendulkar :-
In this match, Virat Kohli equaled the record of centuries of great cricket batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli celebrated his 35th birthday by equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries. Kohli also scored his first ODI century at the same venue i.e. Eden Gardens in 2009.
Also, King Kohli joined Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Sanath Jayasuriya, Ross Taylor and Mitchell Marsh in the list of batsmen who scored a century on their birthday.

Apart from this, Proteas bowler Marco Johnson has registered an unwanted record in his name. In fact, Marco Johnson has made the record of giving the highest number of 94 runs by a South African bowler in a World Cup match.

Also performing well for India with the ball, Jadeja made a record of taking a historic five wickets. With this, Jadeja became the first Indian bowler to take 5 wickets against South Africa in the ODI World Cup.
