IND vs WI: Akshar Patel breaks Shoaib Malik’s 17-year-old world record

Earlier this record was in the name of Pakistani player Shoaib Malik. Shoaib Malik scored 65 runs in the One Day International match played against India in Ahmedabad in 2005. Pakistan then won the match against India by scoring 319 for seven.

West Indies scored 311 for six in 50 overs on the back of Shai Hope’s century and captain Nicholas Pooran’s innings of 77 runs. Akshar Patel took one wicket for 40 runs in 9 overs. At the same time, after spending 54 runs in 7 overs, Shardul Thakur took three wickets. India won the target on the basis of the innings of Shreyas Iyer (63), Sanju Samson (54), and Axar Patel.
