In match 13 of 14 edition of Indian Premier League 2021, Delhi Capitals notched up a 6 wicket win over defending champion Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday.

Mumbai Indians made by 137/9 and Delhi Capitals made by 138/4.

Amit Mishra took four wickets. Shikhar Dhawan scored 45 runs for 42 balls. Steve Smith (33) for the second wicket. Lalit Yadav (22)  and Shimron Hetmyer (14) held their nerves to take DC home in 19.1 overs.

Rohit Sharma (44) and Ishan Kishan (26), Suryakumar Yadav (24),  Jayant Yadav (23) were the main contributors for MI.

For DC, Mishra emerged as the most successful bowler. He was supported by Avesh Khan (2/15), Lalit Yadav (1/17), Marcus Stoinis (1/20) and Kasigo Rabada (1/25).

Mishra replaced Lukman Meriwala in the DC playing XI for this game. He started MI’s downfall with the wickets of Rohit Sharma (44) and Hardik Pandya (0) in the 9th over.

He also removed Kieron Pollard (2) and Ishan Kishan (26) in his subsequent overs to finish with 4 wickets for 24 runs, the best bowling figures by a DC bowler against MI in the IPL.

MI ended up with 137 for 9 in 20 overs which wasn’t big enough to challenge the strong DC batting lineup. They successfully chased down a target for the third time this season.

MI lost Quinton de Kock in the third over after electing to bat first.

Dhawan (231 runs) also consolidated his position at the top of the Orange Cap list. He became the first batsman to breach the 200-run mark this season.
