Kane Williamson hit an elevated 66 not out. His valiant effort fell agonizingly short as Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by a Super Over in Chennai. With the victory, Delhi rose to the second spot in the points table. Sunrisers, on the other hand, are now at the seventh spot with four defeats and only one win.

DC and SRH stepped onto the pitch to play the 20th match of the Indian Premier League. Both sides pushed past incredible limits. The face-off is the first match of the 2021 season to spill into the Super Over. It was a match of many firsts. Both sides used their spinners in the Super Over, a move that had never been done before in all of IPL history.

Two spinners – Axar and Rashid – operated in the Super Over thanks to the venue. Axar tied down Warner and Williamson to just 7 runs. A couple of singles brought pressure on DC’s contenders: Dhawan and Pant. The latter’s reverse-sweep went for four but a dot ball left the Capitals with one needed off the last ball, which the duo managed to seal the Super Over.

Dhawan was beaten by Rashid and was knocked over for a 26-ball 28. Shaw, who notched up his half-century off 35 balls, seemed in no mood to stop until but he wrapper-packed and gifted his wicket soon: getting run-out thanks to a horrible mix-up.

Prithvi Shaw’s half-century, as well as his partnership with Shikar Dhawan (28), being instrumental in giving SRH a target of 160.

Top-order batsmen were once again touted as a reason for the loss. Kane Williamson running the show after David Warner (6) and Jonny Bairstow (38)’s dismissal.

Delhi Capitals a neat number two seat on the table. While the Sunrisers Hyderabad are still sitting ducks at the seventh position.
