Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel return for T20 World Cup

Bumrah and Harshal are all set to return to the Indian team for the T20 World Cup. It may be unfounded that two of the team’s most important bowlers will be making a comeback, but the focus of their comeback is on fitness, which is believed to have cleaned it up.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Asia Cup squad, saying that Bumrah and Harshal are in the NCA. BCCI said, “Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were not available for selection due to injuries. He is currently in rehabilitation at NCA in Bangalore. Both are believed to have completed their rehab.

His return is almost certain, vacancies will have to be created in the current team and there will be one fast bowler and one spinner. The Asia Cup squad had four spinners – Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, and Axar Patel, who came in late in place of Ravindra Jadeja.

The selectors, however, will see the progress of Bumrah and Harshal in the upcoming home T20I series against Australia and South Africa. Both will be made to play matches against visiting teams.

The meeting of the selection committee is likely to be held by September 15. The World Cup in Australia will start on 16 October and end on 13 November.
