PCB Media Rights Sale: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is facing critical choices in the upcoming month, with significant implications, including the sale of media rights for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and international cricket. The estimated revenue from this endeavor ranges from PKR 8 to 10 billion, according to conservative assessments. Although two channels are vying to participate, one of them is currently blacklisted due to previous issues related to non-payment. Further, a third Pakistani channel through a partnership with a foreign entity, is looking to enter the bidding process.

The PCB is also tasked with awarding production rights

The PCB is also tasked with awarding production rights, and in this regard, two companies are poised to enter the competition. One of these companies is planning to collaborate with an overseas entity to secure broadcasting rights. Traditionally, prior to the rights sale, comprehensive market research and consultant services are utilized. However, it remains uncertain whether this process has commenced in this instance.

In the past, media rights for PSL and international cricket were sold separately within Pakistan. The approach for this current round of rights allocation has yet to be disclosed. Notably, several former officials are expediting their efforts to secure positions within the PCB before these substantial contracts are finalized. Recently, Babar Hamid, Badar Rafai, and Sohaib Sheikh were also seen attending meetings at Gaddafi Stadium.
