Delhi Capitals registered their first win of the season in IPL 2023 on Thursday. DC beat KKR by 4 wickets with 4 balls to spare in a nail-biting encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Sourav Ganguly, the director of cricket for Delhi Capitals, admitted that he was a bit apprehensive seeing the state of the team.
Sourav Ganguly said after the match –
“Happy to have won the match. To break the losing streak, sitting in the dugout thinking it was like my first Test run. We were lucky today.” Sitting in the stadium’s dugout, Sourav Ganguly watched Delhi register a hard-fought victory, which reminded him of his Test debut in 1996 against England at Lord’s.
The former Indian captain pointed out the need for improvement in the batting department of Delhi Capitals. Apart from Warner and Akshar Patel, many batsmen have failed to prove their worth.
Sourav Ganguly further said –
“We have bowled well earlier this season as well. But the problem is with the batting. We have to go and see ourselves and think how we can become better. Spinners bowled well. I know we didn’t play well and have to find a way to bat better. We worked with the boys and brought them to the farm. Be it Prithvi, Manish or Mitchell Marsh, they are all important players.”
