The final match of WTC between IND and AUS will be played between 7-11 June 2023. The BCCI on Tuesday announced the Indian squad for the final, which saw the return of veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane.

Talking to Star Sports, Sunil Gavaskar said –

“This change was badly needed in the Indian team. India needed an alternative to Shreyas Iyer. Ajinkya Rahane did not get a chance in the WTC team on the basis of current form. He performed tremendously in the Ranji Trophy. Well done in domestic cricket for Mumbai.”

Gavaskar further said – “The question is what will be the playing 11. Who will get a chance to play? Who will play the wicketkeeping role, KS Bharath or KL Rahul? We will have to wait for it.”
