Team India will go on a Sri Lanka tour without their captain and limited-overs vice-captain Virat and Rohit

The Indian cricket team will tour Sri Lanka in July without regular captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has made it clear that Team India will go to Sri Lanka without its top players. Actually, at the same time, Team India along with its key players will be preparing for the five-match Test series against England.

Sourav Ganguly said, “We have planned a limited-overs series for the senior men’s team in the month of July. They will play T20 Internationals and ODIs in Sri Lanka.”

When asked about the two different teams of India, the BCCI president said that the team participating in the limited-overs series will be different from the team that has been touring England. “It will be a team of limited-overs specialists. It will be different from the team that has gone to England tour,” he said. He made it clear that the Cricket Board has also kept in mind the limited-overs regulars.

There are at least 5 T20 internationals and three ODIs series on the Sri Lanka tour. The Indian team’s England tour will end on September 14 and the remaining matches of the IPL are yet to be planned. In such a situation, the BCCI wants players like Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, and Yuzvendra Chahal to be ready for the matches.

A BCCI source, explaining the reasoning for the tour, told PTI, “The BCCI president wants all our top players to be ready for the match and since there are no limited-overs series on England tour. In the month of July. Can be used well. “

He said that in the month of July it will not be possible for the top players of the Indian team to come from England. Because the quarantine rule is quite stringent there. The source said that technically, the senior team does not have to play any official match in the month of July. The Test team will practice by playing matches. In such a situation, there is no harm in giving a chance to match practice for the limited-overs experts of India. This will also give the selectors a chance to fill the shortcomings of the team.

The source further said that this would give the team a chance to experiment. For the leg-spin, Rahul Chahar or Rahul Tewatia can be tested as an alternative to Chahal. Chetan Sakariya can be tried in left-arm fast bowling. It will also have to be seen whether players like Devdutt Padikkal and Shreyas Iyer are fit to play the match.
Prithvi Shaw’s ODI career has not gone well, while batsmen like Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan are very strong to strengthen their claim in the team.
