ICC’s current chairman Greg Barclay does not want to extend his term. He is the chairman of ICC since the year 2020. Now there is an Indian ground in front of Sourav Ganguly for this post. Sourav Ganguly is currently the President of BCCI.

Both Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah want to become the chairman of the ICC. Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah can be face to face for the chairman of ICC.
If either of them becomes the chairman of the ICC, then he will be the fifth Indian, who will beautify the post. The term of the ICC chairman is two years and cannot be extended beyond six years.

So far, four Indians have become the chairman of the ICC. Jagmohan Dalmiya was the first Indian to reach this position. His tenure was from 1977 to 2000. Sharad Pawar (2010-2012), N Srinivasan (2014-2015) and Shashank Manohar (2015-2020) have held this post.
The current ICC chairman Greg Barkle does not want to extend his tenure. Elections for the post of chairman can held in November 2022. The 2023 World Cup is to be held in India. Before this, BCCI wants its dominance in the ICC to increase.

Under Sourav Ganguly, India learned to win matches abroad: –
ICC: After Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly took over the captaincy of the Indian team. After that he took Team India to new heights. Under his captaincy, Team India learned to win abroad, but under his captaincy, India had to face defeat at the hands of Australia in the 2003 World Cup.
He scored 7212 runs in 113 Test matches and 11363 runs in 311 ODIs for India. He had won many matches for the Indian team on his own. At the same time, Jay Shah is the son of the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah and he currently holds the post of secretary in BCCI.
