Tony Dodemed has been Selected as Australia’s New Selector

Former Australia and Victoria all-rounder and longtime cricket administrator Tony Dodemed has been named as the new selector in Australia’s men’s set-up to take over the role vacated by Trevor Hohns.

Tony Dodemed will join the three-man panel in mid-November along with chairman of selectors George Bailey and coach Justin Langer. Joe will pick the teams for the T20 World Cup, excluding Langer and Bailey, ahead of the men’s Ashes series. In which Langer will be both the head coach and selector on duty in the UAE.

Tony Dodemed played 10 Tests and 24 ODIs for Australia between 1987 and 1993

Tony Dodemed played 10 Tests and 24 ODIs for Australia between 1987 and 1993. He took 6 for 58 on his Test debut against New Zealand in the 1987 Boxing Day Test and took five wickets on his ODI debut against Sri. Lanka in Perth next week.

After a long first-class career with Victoria and the Sussexes, Tony Dodemed went on to have a very distinguished career in cricket administration. Joe began as the MCC’s head of cricket before moving to Perth in 2004 to become the CEO of the WACA, when Langer was the state’s captain. Three years later he returned to Melbourne to take on the role as CEO of Cricket Victoria. He oversaw the redevelopment of Junction Oval as Victoria’s training and administration base before leaving the role in 2018.

Tony has since been General Manager of Hockey One

Tony Dodemed has since been General Manager of Hockey One. Australia’s new national hockey competition which was formed in 2019. But will stand in that role to take on his new position as national cricket selector.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to contribute not only to the immediate tournament and series, but to help chart the medium to long term course of the Australian men’s teams,” said Tony Dodemed.

“I can’t wait to offer my experience in cricket as a player and management to assist George [Bailey] and JL [Langer] but also the wider Australian Cricket High Performance Network. On their cricketing journey. I have often been close to high performances and selections, so I feel well suited and ready for the role.”
