ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Angelo Mathews and Dushmantha Chameera were called up as traveling reserves for the ongoing World Cup in India. This decision has been taken for the team management to deal with uncertain injuries or illnesses that could cause problems for future games.

As Travel Reserve With Immediate Effect:-

Angelo Mathews and Dushmantha Chameera will be calling up to join the Sri Lankan squad as travel reserves for the ongoing 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup in India with immediate effect.

Injuries had plagued Sri Lanka well before the tournament, with star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga ruled out of the showpiece event. Fellow spinner Mahesh Theekshana could not play in the opening match of the World Cup.

Who Have Already Been Eliminated From The Tournament:-

Fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana and captain Dasun Shanaka are the latest casualties on the list. Having already was ruling out of the tournament. Chamika Karunaratne has been officially included in the team in place of Shanaka.

Mathews And Chameera Against The Netherlands in Lucknow:-

Mathews and Chameera are expecting to join the team on Friday (October 20). A day before their next match against the Netherlands in Lucknow.

Incidentally, Chameera was initially ruling out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury but has reportedly regained full fitness.
