AUS vs NED: Mitchell Starc equals Lasith Malinga’s big record in World Cup

World Cup 2023, Mitchell Starc: Australia created history by defeating Netherlands by 309 runs on Wednesday evening. The bowlers of the Kangaroo team stole the show with their lethal bowling at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi. Adam Zampa bowled brilliantly and took four wickets. Mitchell Starc also got one wicket in his account.

Another achievement in the name of Mitchell Starc :-

Mitchell Starc gave the first blow to the Netherlands team in the match. Starc showed the way to the pavilion by clean bowling Max O’Dowd. With this wicket, Starc has equaled Lasith Malinga’s record of taking most wickets in the 50 over World Cup. Starc now has 56 wickets in his name in the World Cup. However, Malinga had achieved this feat in 29 matches, while Starc has achieved this feat in only his 23rd match.

Pakistan’s legendary bowler Wasim Akram left behind :-

Mitchell Starc has also left Wasim Akram behind by taking the 56th wicket. Wasim took 55 wickets in 38 matches in the World Cup. Starc has now gone ahead of Wasim Akram. Glenn McGrath’s name is on top in terms of taking the most wickets in World Cup history, who has taken 71 wickets in this mega event. Muttiah Muralitharan is at second position with 68 wickets.

Australia’s big win over Netherlands:-

After winning the toss, Australia came to bat and scored 399 runs on the score board after losing 8 wickets in 50 overs. On behalf of the team, Glenn Maxwell scored the fastest century in World Cup history and played a stormy innings of 106 runs in 44 balls. While David Warner scored 104 runs, Steve Smith also scored a half-century. While chasing the target of 400 runs, the entire Netherlands team was all out for just 90 runs. Adam Zampa wreaked havoc and took four wickets.
