ENG vs SA World Cup 2023: England’s 229-run defeat against South Africa is now their biggest defeat to date in One Day International (ODI) as well as the World Cup. England were all out for 170 runs while chasing the target of 400 runs during the ICC World Cup 2023 played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

South Africa’s innings

South Africa, who came to bat first after losing the toss against England, batted brilliantly. During this, the team scored 399 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs. Heinrich Klaasen was the batsman who scored the most runs in Africa’s innings. Klaasen scored 109 runs in 67 balls in the match against England. Which includes 12 fours and 4 sixes.

England had a very poor start to chase the target of 400 runs set by South Africa. The team’s wickets kept falling one after the other. Due to this Jos Buttler’s team failed to make a comeback in the match. Due to this poor performance, England had to face defeat by 229 runs against Africa.
