This injury is unfortunate for England as well as Topley as his career has been full of many injuries. Earlier, ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, Topley suffered a serious injury when he slipped on an advertising hoarding while practicing catching near the boundary, injuring his ligament.

Additionally, he had previously suffered several stress fractures in his back which ultimately required surgery. His return from there was a difficult journey.

Topley has taken 8 wickets so far in the 2023 World Cup. He was England’s leading wicket-taker despite not playing a game before this last injury.
