Daryl Mitchell did what could not be done against India in the last 48 years in World Cup history in Dharamshala. The Kiwi batsman batted brilliantly and scored his first century in the World Cup and fifth century of his ODI career.

Daryl Mitchell has become only the second batsman for New Zealand to score a century against India in the 50-over World Cup. Mitchell is the first Kiwi batsman to score a century in the World Cup against Team India in 48 years.
Before Mitchell, in 1975, New Zealand batsman Glenn Maitland Turner had scored a century in this mega event against India. Mitchell played a brilliant inning of 130 runs facing 127 balls. During this, he hit 9 fours and five sixes.

Mitchell made record partnership with Ravindra :-
Along with playing a century innings, Darryl Mitchell made another big record in his name. Along with Ravindra, Mitchell made the biggest partnership for New Zealand against India in the World Cup. Both the batsmen of Kiwi team made a partnership of 159 runs for the third wicket. Rachin Ravindra played a strong inning of 75 runs in 87 balls.
Kiwi team’s innings wavered in the last overs:-
New Zealand’s innings faltered badly after the dismissal of Rachin Ravindra. The team lost its last eight wickets adding 95 runs. Mohammed Shami wreaked havoc in the final overs, clean bowling Mitchell Santner and Matt Henry on two consecutive balls. Whereas, Darryl Mitchell’s innings was ended by Shami in the last over of the innings.
