“The ICC’s independent pitch consultant works with hosts and venues on their proposed pitch allocations and this process continues throughout an event of this length and nature,” a BCCI spokesperson was quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.

Pitches at ICC events are prepared under the supervision of Andy Atkinson, an advisor to the governing body. He reaches an agreement with the home board as to which of the numbered pitches on the ground will be used for each game. However, according to a report in Mail Sport, the pitch on which the semi-finals will be played is not the pitch that was initially chosen.
