World Cup 2023, Pakistan: Pakistan successfully achieved the target of 345 runs against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad. This is now the most successful chase in the history of the Men’s ODI World Cup. Earlier this record was in the name of Ireland, who had chased the target of 328 runs against England in the 2011 World Cup. This is the highest successful chase by any team against Sri Lanka in ODI.
World Cup 2023: Pakistan ‘s victory chariot continues :-
With this win, Pakistan has registered its 8th consecutive win against Sri Lanka in the ODI World Cup and continued its 8-0 winning streak.
Overall, Pakistan’s biggest successful run chase in ODI came against Australia in Lahore in the year 2022. In this match, Pakistan had successfully achieved the target of 349 runs.

This happened for the first time in ODI World Cup :-
This is the first men’s ODI World Cup match to feature four individual centuries. Hyderabad has 4 centurions – Kusal Mendis, Sadira Samarawickrama, Abdullah Shafiq and Mohammad Rizwan.
By completing his century in 65 balls, Kusal Mendis has made the record of scoring the fastest century for Sri Lanka and the sixth fastest century in the Men’s ODI World Cup. Earlier, the record for the fastest century for Sri Lanka was in the name of Kumar Sangakkara, who completed his century facing only 70 balls against England in 2015.
Abdullah Shafiq achieved this feat in his debut match:-
Abdullah Shafiq became the first Pakistani player to score a century on debut in the men’s ODI World Cup. The previous highest score on World Cup debut for Pakistan was 82 runs by Mohsin Khan against Sri Lanka in 1983.
The 176-run partnership between Rizwan and Shafiq is the second highest partnership for Pakistan in the ODI World Cup.

Let us also tell you that Matheesha Pathirana has given 91 runs by throwing wide balls in his 12-match ODI career. It includes 18 runs against Pakistan in Hyderabad. This is the most runs given by any bowler on a wide ball since his debut in June 2023.
