NED vs BAN, World Cup 2023: Netherlands, which is expert in the game of football, is now shining in cricket also. After defeating South Africa, it has now sealed its exit from the World Cup by defeating Bangladesh. In the match held at the Eden Gardens Stadium on Saturday, Netherlands defeated Bangladesh by 87 runs on the strength of the fighting innings of wicketkeeper captain Scott Edwards (68) and the lethal spell of fast bowler Paul van Meekeren (4/23).

Netherlands is no more a novice:-

The Netherlands, one of the regular teams of the Football World Cup, qualified for the Cricket World Cup for the first time in 1994 and played their first World Cup in 1996. After this he also played the 2003, 2007 and 2011 World Cups but could not leave a mark.

Netherlands is now attracting everyone’s attention by returning to the World Cup after 12 years. He has expressed that like football, he will now have to take cricket seriously as well.

Scott Edwards became the batsman with most half centuries:-

In this match, 27-year-old Edwards became the batsman with the most half-centuries in ODI cricket for Netherlands. He has now scored 15 half-centuries in 44 matches. He left former player RN Ten Dujschat behind, who has 14 half-centuries in 33 ODIs.

Edwards’ innings, which was played with patience when needed, included six fours. Wesley Barres also played a useful inning of 41 runs. Bangladesh bowlers put pressure on Netherlands from the very beginning and sent its opening batsmen to the pavilion cheaply. After that, Edwards took over the faltering innings and took the team to a challenging score.

The match was named after fast bowlers:-

Paul Van Meekeren of Netherlands took four wickets and Bas De Leede took two wickets. Leede has taken 11 wickets and Meekeren has taken 10 wickets in the current World Cup. The performance of Bangladesh’s fast bowlers was also good. Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam created initial pressure and took two wickets each.
