Despite this, the fans who came to the stadium broke the record of the 2015 World Cup and after a few matches, they are on the way to breaking the record of the 2019 World Cup as well.
The 2019 World Cup in England And Wales According To ICC:-
According to stadium data, a total of 6,23,247 people attended the World Cup 2015 in Australia and New Zealand. The total attendance at the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales was 7,52,000, according to the ICC.
According to stadium data, a total attendance of 6,24,279 has been recorded in the first nine matches of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. With 38 more matches left for India vs Pakistan, the World Cup will see viewership double.
This would eventually break the 2011 World Cup crowd record, at which time 1.2 million (12 lakh) fans watched the match from the stadiums.
This Number Despite The Empty Stadium:-
Those who are saying that the stadiums will be empty in the 2023 World Cup are not wrong. The capacity of Indian stadiums is better than Australia and England.
For example, at the 1,32,000-capacity Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the England vs New Zealand opener, only 47,518 were recorded as official attendance. That was only 36% of the huge stadium.
There were 3,810 seats vacant for the India vs Australia match. And there were still 2,700 seats vacant for the India vs Afghanistan match in Delhi. Tickets were available on BookMyShow even 15 minutes before the match started.
