ICC ODI World Cup 2023: The Sri Lankan fast bowler Lahiru Kumara, out of World Cup 2023, Chameera got a replacement in the team. Sri Lanka suffered a major setback before its important match against Afghanistan.

Lahiru Ruled Out Of World Cup Due To A Left Thigh Muscle Injury:-

Fast bowler Lahiru Kumara has been ruled out of the World Cup due to a left thigh muscle injury.

He suffered this injury during a training session, after which the ICC Technical Committee approved the inclusion of fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera in the team in his place.

Now Sri Lanka Will Definitely Miss Kumara in The Upcoming Matches:-

Kumara was in good form, contributing brilliantly with three wickets (3/35) in Sri Lanka’s impressive eight-wicket win over England in Bengaluru on 26 October. Now Sri Lanka will definitely miss Kumara in the upcoming matches.

Chameera was initially not part of Sri Lanka’s 15-man World Cup squad due to an injury he sustained during the Lanka Premier League. But, he was later placed in the team as a traveling reserve along with the experienced Angelo Mathews.

Matheesha Was Brought Into The SL Team As A Substitute For Pathirana:-

Mathews was also brought into the Sri Lanka team. Before the England match as a replacement for injured fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana.

Chameera’s inclusion marks the third instance of Sri Lanka making injury-related changes to their World Cup squad. Following the replacements of Chamika Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews.
