World Cup 2023, Umpires announced: ICC has announced the names of umpires for the first match of ODI World Cup 2023.
ICC gave this information for the first match: –
India’s Nitin Menon and Kumar Dharmasena will officiate the opening World Cup match between England and New Zealand on October 5, the International Cricket Council said on Friday. Former fast bowler Javagal Srinath will be the match referee for this match. Paul Wilson will be the TV umpire and Saikat will be the fourth umpire in the first match of the tournament to be played in Ahmedabad.
Sixteen umpires will officiate in the 13th edition of the tournament: –
Sixteen umpires will officiate in the 13th edition of the tournament, including all 12 umpires from the ICC’s Emirates Elite Panel and four members of the ICC Emerging Umpires Panel.
The list includes three of the four umpires appointed for the 2019 final at Lord’s – Dharmasena, Marais Erasmus and Rod Tucker. The only missing from the list is Aleem Dar, who resigned from the elite panel in March this year.
Former international cricketers Jeff Crowe, Andy Pycroft, Richie Richardson and Srinath have been included in the ICC Elite Panel for ODI World Cup 2023 as match referees. Officials have been nominated for all matches in the league stage, with selections for the semi-finals and final of the tournament to be announced in due course.
