Speaking with Indian Express, coach Goswami said, “Wasim Akram has worked a lot with him. The condition of his wrist was very good but Wasim Bhai did more work on his wrist.

He was not getting much playing time for KKR, but he was always around Wasim. It was Wasim Akram who made him the bowler he is and of course, he has worked hard.”

He further said, “Virat explained to me why it is so difficult to face Shami. Shami makes subtle changes with his fingers.

Jasprit Bumrah is easy to read but Shami is not so much. When Shami bowls, you don’t know which ball is coming in and which one is going out.”
