ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Why did Prasidh Krishna, not Akshar Patel, become the first choice to replace Hardik Pandya? Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of World Cup 2023 due to injury and BCCI has included Prasidh Krishna in his place.

When Pandya was not officially out, it was believed that Akshar Patel might get a place because he can bat well along with bowling.

Patel was also included in the first squad but due to injury he also had to be out now he is fine and has also returned to domestic cricket.

Famous Krishna is a proper fast bowler, and currently, all three fast bowlers included in the squad, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj are bowling well.

India will hardly field with 4 fast bowlers, so shouldn’t an all-rounder have been included in place of Hardik? Was Axar Patel not the right option? But why place the famous Krishna?

If any fast bowler gets injuring here, India should have an option in the form of fast bowling, hence he has been included in the squad.

Prasidh Krishna has taken 29 wickets in 17 ODIs, his best performance being 4 wickets for 12 runs. His economy in this format is 5.60.
