Afghanistan Cricket Team, ODI World Cup 2023: A big decision has been taken by the Afghanistan Cricket Board for the ODI World Cup 2023. Actually, Afghanistan Cricket has appointed former Indian legend Ajay Jadeja as the mentor of the team for the ODI World Cup to be played in India. Poor performance was seen from Afghanistan in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, due to which the board took this decision for this World Cup.

Lost all the matches in the 2019 World Cup, won one match in 2015

Afghanistan had lost all the matches in the 2019 ODI World Cup. The team played 9 matches, in which the team did not win any of them. Earlier, in the 2015 ODI World Cup, Afghanistan had played a total of 6 matches, in which the team had lost 5 and won only 1. In such a situation, this time the team would definitely like to perform well in the upcoming World Cup.

World Cup is starting from 5th October

Let us tell you that the ODI World Cup to be hosted by India is starting from 5th October. Afghanistan team will play its first match in the tournament on October 7 against Bangladesh in Dharamshala. Then the second match of the Afghan team will be against India on October 11 in Delhi.

Ajay Jadeja played for India in the 1996 World Cup. In such a situation, he can prove to be very effective for Afghanistan in the World Cup. Ajay has played 15 Tests and 196 ODIs for India. He scored 576 runs in 24 innings of the Test, which included 4 half-centuries. Apart from this, in 179 innings of ODI, he has scored 5359 runs with the help of 6 centuries and 30 half-centuries. He played international cricket for India between 1992 and 2000.
