Tamim Iqbal does not want to be a part of BCB’s “dirty game” :-

In a video message on his official Facebook page after being dropped from the World Cup squad, the veteran batsman said he did not want to be a part of BCB’s “dirty game”.

Tamim said, “A top level official of our cricket board called me and said that you will go to the World Cup and we will have to manage (your fitness) and you will have to play.”

He said, ‘Do one thing, you do not play the opening match against Afghanistan.’ What are you playing with? Then he said, ‘If you play, we are planning to send you down the order.’

“You have to understand what mindset I am coming from. I played good innings (against New Zealand) after some time and I was happy with it. But suddenly words like this were not something I could accept,” He said.

Tamim Iqbal further said:-

“I have been playing in the same position for the last 17 years and I never batted at three or four. If I was batting at three or four and later my batting position was changed up and down, then that It could have been adjusted in the situation. But I have no experience of batting at number three and four. Certainly I did not take it well. I felt that I was being forced into many areas willingly. It’s like, this is going well let’s do something new (to annoy him). That’s what I was feeling.

“At that time I said that if you are thinking like this then don’t send me because I don’t want to be a part of this dirty game. Later I told him a lot of things which I don’t want to disclose.” This platform and I want it to remain between us only. Still I told them that if such things happen then don’t hire me because I don’t want to be a part of these dirty things.

World Cup 2023: BCB accused of ‘dirty game’, Tamim denies injury claim.

Had problem in his back even in the series against New Zealand :-

The veteran batsman made a comeback in the New Zealand series after a long story involving a back injury, a retirement U-turn and stepping down as captain. He did not bat in the series opener against New Zealand as the game was cancelled, but scored 44 in the second ODI but revealed after the match that he was still feeling discomfort in his back.

During the official press conference after the team announcement, BCB selection panel members claimed that Tamim was not selected due to injury problems. Tamim Iqbal denied this and said that the medical department has made him fit to play without any conditions.

Tamim Iqbal also revealed the physio report:-

“As per the physio report, my condition was explained… like there was pain after the first game and there was pain after the second game and he is available for selection for the 26th game, but the medical department felt that If I rest we travel on the 27th… We have a practice game on the 28th [29] and another on the 1st or 2nd and if I play a second practice game. If I rest now and When I play the second practice game, I will have enough time to rest. Overall, I will have 10 weeks of rehabilitation and I will be in good shape to play the first game,” Tamim said.

“[In the physio report] it didn’t say anywhere that I would be available for five games or not be able to play and things like that. I’m not denying that I had pain and that’s basically what happened. I think what’s coming from the media… about my injury or that I’m available for five matches… I don’t think it’s largely responsible for me not going to the World Cup because I’m I wasn’t injured till now, there may be pain but I wasn’t injured.”
