World Cup 2023, Shubman Gill: India’s opening batsman Shubman Gill, who is suffering from dengue fever, has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai. Currently he is under the care of medical experts.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doctor Dr Rizwan Khan, who is traveling with the team, is taking care of the young opener. Gill missed India’s first World Cup match against Australia on Sunday due to suffering from dengue fever.
Let us also tell you that Gill’s platelet count has been low for some time, which is why he did not go to Delhi with the team. India has to play its second match of the World Cup against Afghanistan in Delhi.
BCCI issued a statement and wrote this:-
The team management has been medically advised to avoid flying if platelet count is low. Earlier, BCCI had issued a statement confirming that Gill will not be available for the Delhi match.
That statement read that “Team India batsman Shubman Gill will not travel with the team to Delhi on October 9, 2023. The opening batsman, who missed the team’s first match at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia in Chennai, He will not be able to play in the team’s next match. He will stay in Chennai and will be under the observation of the medical team.

Doubt on playing against Pakistan :-
It is still uncertain whether Gill will be available for the high-octane match against Pakistan in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The team management is hopeful that he will recover in time to play against their arch-rivals.
Sources say that if Gill’s condition improves then he can be discharged and return to the hotel. If there is a positive change in his health condition, he can go straight to Ahmedabad to rejoin the team.
