World Cup 2023, England: The World Cup 2023 hosted by India has started. Defending champions England and New Zealand face each other at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. England batted first and registered a unique record in its name.

It is noteworthy that in the absence of Kane Williamson, New Zealand captain Tom Latham won the toss and decided to bowl first. England, batting first, scored 282 runs losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Joe Root played an inning of 77 runs. Whereas, captain Jos Buttler scored 43 runs.

Special record registered in the name of England :-

In the first match of World Cup 2023, England registered a special record in its name. In fact, this happened for the first time in ODI cricket when 11 out of 11 batsmen were successful in reaching double figures in an innings. During England’s innings, all the batsmen touched double figures.

ENG vs NZ: Best bowling of New Zealand :-

Talking about New Zealand’s bowling, Matt Henry took 3 wickets for 48 runs in 10 overs. At the same time, Mitchell Santner took 2 wickets for 37 runs in 10 overs, while Glenn Phillips took two important wickets for 17 runs in 3 overs. Trent Boult and Rachin Ravindra got one wicket each.
