Lanka Premier League 2021 has been postponed by the Sri Lanka Cricket board
The Lanka Premier League 2021, which was expected to start on 29 July 2021, has been rescheduled to be held from 19th November to 12th December 2021.
The Governing Council of the Lanka Premier League is of the view that the rescheduling of the tournament will allow more players from major cricket-playing nations to participate in the league.
The Council made this decision after assessing that at least one similar Premier League and several international tours would be played between cricketing nations during August 2021, the period during which the Lanka Premier League II edition was expected to be played.
“The IPG supports the decision of the SLC to postpone the second edition of the LPL. The success of the league is paramount. We thank SLC, Government of Sri Lanka, players, franchises, and sponsors for their support,” said Mr. Anil Mohan, Founder & CEO, Innovative Production Group FZE, Official Promoters of LPL.
The first season of LPL was also postponed twice
Last year, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board had decided to start the Sri Lanka Premier League. Last year too, however, the league was hit by the coronavirus. The first season of the Sri Lanka Premier League was postponed twice due to the coronavirus. However, in November 2020, the first season of the league was successfully organized.

But due to Corona, many players withdrew their names before the tournament started. The weak financial condition of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board is also creating hurdles in organizing the league.
Not only this, the limited over series to be played between India and Sri Lanka this month has also been pushed forward due to the arrival of corona cases in the Sri Lankan team.
