So, What’s The Deal With The Stop Clock?

This rule is designed to minimize delays between overs. Here’s the gist: the fielding team will have only 60 seconds to start the next over after the previous one finishes.

How will they keep track of these 60 seconds?

The third umpire will be in charge of a 60-second timer. As soon as the last ball of an over is bowled, the timer starts ticking. This ensures everyone’s on the same page and the over starts promptly.

But What If They Don’t Start The Over in 60 Seconds?

Here’s where things get interesting! If the fielding team fails to get the next over underway within the allotted time, the batting team gets a bonus – 5 penalty runs!

Wait, there’s a catch?

Not exactly a catch, but there’s a little twist. Before the 5-run penalty kicks in, the umpires will give the fielding team two warnings. So, the third time’s the charm (or the penalty) for the fielding team.
