PSL 2023: Karachi is likely to host remaining PSL due to financial row. The interim Punjab government is demanding the PCB to pay 450 million Pakistani rupees in security expenses, which the board is reluctant to do.

The remaining part of PSL can be completely shifted to Karachi:-

The remaining part of the PSL may be moved entirely to Karachi following a financial dispute between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the interim Punjab government. A decision will be taken after a meeting with all the franchise owners in the afternoon.

The dispute pertains to how to split the security costs of hosting the tournament.

The interim Punjab government demanded the PCB pay PKR 450m in security costs for hosting the tournament in Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Govt to host matches in Multan in Rs:-

That amount also includes the cost to be borne by the government for hosting the matches in Multan.

According to a PCB official, the Sindh government is not requiring to pay a part of the security cost to the PCB.

Only security personnel need remuneration for catering. The cost is understanding to be in the region of PKR 30m.

Payment of additional cost to the interim Punjab Government:-

The PCB has called an emergency PSL Governing Council meeting for Friday afternoon to discuss who and how to pay the additional cost to the interim Punjab government.

The possibility of shifting the remaining 20 matches from Punjab to Sindh is also being exploring and discussed, along with various options for the same. Who will bear the additional cost of relocation.

The first 12 matches of PSL have been held in Karachi and Multan. The first match in Lahore is scheduling for 26 February, with the first match in Rawalpindi on 1 March. The playoffs and final – on 19 March – were all originally scheduling for Lahore.
