Melbourne Renegades Sign Sri Lanka Leg-Spinner Ruwantha Kellepotha For The Upcoming Season, making a surprise signing by adding the uncapped Melbourne-based Sri Lankan legspinner to their BBL squad as an overseas replacement.

The Played 20 first-class matches and 12 List A matches in Sri Lanka:-

The 31-year-old Kelapotha played 20 first-class matches and 12 List A matches in Sri Lanka between 2010 and 2013 before moving to Australia.

He represented four different clubs in the lower-level Dandenong District Cricket Association in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs before playing premier cricket for KC-South Melbourne last season.

where he took 46 wickets in 50-over and T20 cricket to finish the competition. Leading wicket-taker and KC help South Melbourne reach the final.

He can match with the best of Victoria:-

“We were impressed by what we saw from Ruwantha in Darwin as part of the Renegades Academy, and his performance in premier cricket last year showed he could match with the best of Victoria,” Rosengarten said.

“It has been a unique cricketing journey for us to reach this level. We are confident that he can come and make an impact for us this season,” he added.

Kellepotha said that he is really excited to have the opportunity with Renegades.

“Even my journey has been a little different,” Kellepotha said. “I played first-class cricket in Sri Lanka, came to Melbourne in 2013 to play local cricket, and then went to premier cricket last year.

“I had achieved what I wanted to achieve in local cricket, so I wanted to see what I could do in premier cricket. Now I want to see what I can do at the highest level.

“I really appreciate the opportunity that Renegades has given me to be involved this year. It is a huge privilege and something I do not take lightly.
