‘He is a different phenomenon in white-ball cricket’, says Aakash on Warner’s failure in Indian Test games

David Warner has been looking out of rhythm of late and his stats against India haven’t done him any good at all. In his 8 matches in India, the batsman has scored only 388 runs at a poor average of 24.25, which is well below the benchmark for a player of his calibre.

Aakash touched upon Warner’s performance in Test cricket in India –

The ongoing series against India is going to be very important for Warner as Australia look for better options to go into the final of the Ashes and the World Test Championship in case the batsman is unable to hold his own in the four matches.

Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra touched upon David Warner’s performance in India in Test cricket and gave his inputs that a player like Warner is a phenomenon in white-ball cricket, but things are completely different when playing Tests.

Aakash said –

“David Warner is a different phenomenon in white-ball cricket, he can play anywhere in the world. I would say you can play him on the moon, he will hit there too. But when he comes to India and plays Test cricket, suddenly something happens to him, he doesn’t score runs.

Aakash said – “In India you can neither play across the line nor on the bounce, because the pitch has no life. You try to hit hard but the ball stops there, especially the red SG Test ball and The kind of pitches we play on, you don’t get to play too many shots.”
