In IPL 2023, the Rajasthan Royals team had to face defeat on the home ground against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday. Batting first, Lucknow had set a target of 155 runs. The team needed 51 runs in the last five overs. Then Devdutt Padikkal and Ryan Parag were at the crease. However, the team could only manage 144 runs and lost the match by 10 runs. Parag remained at the crease for five overs and could only manage 15 runs off 12 balls. After this, he has again come under the target of trolls.

Riyan Parag Running in Bad Form

In five matches for Rajasthan this season, Riyan Parag has scored 54 runs at an average of 13.50. So far in the tournament, he has been able to hit only three fours and three sixes. The all-rounder from Assam has played seven, 20, seven, five and 15 not out innings so far in the tournament. A lot was being expected from this all-rounder before the tournament, but till now he has not been able to do anything special. In such a situation, the fans trolled him on social media.

Riyan Trolled on Social Media

Sharing a scene from the film ‘Chakde India’, a user named Roshan Rai wrote – Dhruv Jurel asking the owners of RR why Riyan Parag is sent before them. Pukhraj Singh called Riyan the worst player in IPL history. A social media user even compared Riyan to Rinku Singh. He wrote – We live in a society where Riyan gets Rs 3.8 crore for playing IPL and Rinku Rs 50 lakh.

Shastri Said this About Parag

At the same time, former India coach Ravi Shastri has also targeted Riyan Parag for his poor performance against Lucknow. Shastri attacked Parag only to score just four runs off the first eight balls. Shastri said during the commentary – Rajasthan had lost Samson. They had lost Buttler and Jaiswal, but still had enough batting. I think when Riyan Parag came in, it was that phase of the game when you had to be aggressive. The way Parag played his first eight balls, he changed the course of the match. Seeing them, Padikkal at the other end also lost his composure.

Pietersen also Targeted Parag

Shastri said- Runs started coming in singles and it was a period of 28 balls in which Rajasthan team could not hit any boundary. When you play so many balls without any boundary, you invite trouble. Not only Shastri, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen also targeted Riyan Parag. He said- Rajasthan players knew what kind of target they were chasing. Luckily the team is at the top of the points table. They will learn a lot from this defeat. It is expected that he will be able to make changes in the batting line-up. Riyan Parag was given the responsibility, but now the team management must have come to know how he plays. They had such a strong batting lineup. He could have gone for the hit much earlier.
