Champions Trophy 2025: Sri Lankan cricket is facing setbacks one after another. There is turmoil in the Sri Lanka Cricket Board after the poor performance in the World Cup. At the same time, ICC has canceled the membership of the board on Friday due to violation of rules. Now Sri Lanka Cricket has suffered another blow.
Sri Lankan team failed to qualify for Champions Trophy 2025 :-
Actually, the Sri Lankan team has not been able to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025. Champions Trophy 2025 will be organized in Pakistan. A total of 8 teams will participate in the tournament. Being the host country, Pakistan has already qualified.

As far as qualification for the Champions Trophy is concerned, ICC has made special rules for it. This time, the teams finishing in the top-8 in points of World Cup 2023 will qualify for this tournament. According to the points table, Sri Lanka is at 9th position.
Afghanistan will play for the first time :-
Afghanistan surprised everyone with its performance in the World Cup 2023. They won 4 out of 9 matches and is at sixth position with 8 points. The team has qualified for the Champions Trophy and Afghanistan will participate in the Champions Trophy.
