Mark Wood’s career-best run and a productive opening stand have propelled England’s bid for a comfortable victory in the fifth Vodafone Ashes Test.

The End of The Second Session :-

The Tourists ran 1–68 at the end of the second session of the third day in Hobart, with Wood setting a target of 271 after scoring 6–37 and restricting Australia to a total of 155 in the second innings.

Rory Burns and Zak Crawley made England’s biggest opening share of the tour, in a scathing style that thwarted their previous encounters and the struggles of Australia’s batsmen on the same pitch.

England chased down their first Test win in Australia since 2010–11, scoring 0–50 in just 10.2 overs.

The five-Test series featured a Limited Conclusion Formulation System (DRS) play, during which the hosts took an unassailable 3–0 lead to retain the urn.

But the series finale hasn’t deterred the referential anger for antagonists.

Pat Cummins opted to delineate a powerful LBW shout from Mitchell Starc and teammates in the third over when Burns was on seven.

Ball-tracking replays indicated that a referral would have ended Burns’ miserable tour.

Cummins lost one of three appearances on a catch-back appeal in Green’s first over when Burns was on 26.

He Delivered Stuart Broad :-

Alex Carey, who had peaked in Australia’s second dig with 49, was on 30 when he successfully declared an lbw out after being dismissed by a thin margin outside leg following a Stuart Broad delivery.

Cummins, who scored 13, overturned his golden duck after a sandshoe crusher from Wood.

Carey also benefited from a divisive decision by third umpire Paul Reiffel, who was bowled for 19 by a no-ball from Chris Woakes.

Former Test umpire Simon Taufel felt it was unfair to penalize Woakes for overstepping, while both Broad and Ben Stokes saw it as disloyalty after the tight call.

“Calling that front-foot no-ball requires conclusive evidence… I don’t think I’ll rule it out,” Taufel told Seven Network.

During this summer, Wood, the most productive and prolific bowler for the tourists, put up another fight, taking 20 wickets in a Test on Australian soil for the first time since 2013–14.

Wood righted the dominant scalp of first-innings centurion Travis Head and former captain Steve Smith in the first six-over spell on Sunday, also removing nightwatchman Scott Boland as the hosts went downhill at 6-63.

The express pacer returned to the campaign to dismiss Cummins and Mitchell Starc.
