Sri Lanka’s biggest fan ‘Uncle Percy’ passes away amid World Cup 2023

Uncle Percy: The 30th match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 was played between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan cricket has received a very sad news. The Sri Lankan team lost its biggest fan Uncle Percy forever on 30 October.

Uncle Percy breathed his last at the age of 87 :-

At the age of 87, Uncle Percy breathed his last in Colombo. Everyone’s eyes became moist as soon as the news of the death of Percy, who was ill for a long time, came out. Many veteran players of the Sri Lankan team expressed condolences on social media.

Percy used to go to the stadium to watch every match of the Sri Lankan team for the last 40 years, but U. Percy, who was ill for a long time, said goodbye to the world.

Uncle Percy was also a big fan of Rohit Sharma :-

Let us tell you that the Sri Lanka Cricket Board had given him permission to support the team by carrying the country’s flag in any stadium. Not only this, every cricketer would know him. He used to come to the dressing room to talk to and meet the players.

Uncle Percy was also a big fan of Indian team captain Rohit Sharma. When I went to Sri Lanka to play the Asia Cup in September this year, uncle was ill at that time and Rohit Sharma himself came to his house to meet him.

Sanath Jayasuriya expressed grief :-

After the demise of Percy, former Sri Lankan team opener Sanath Jayasuriya expressed grief. He made a tweet in which he wrote,

“It is with great sadness that we announce that our dear Uncle Percy is no more. You were the first superfan and you will always be special to all of us.”
