‘Brother when will you stop?’, former Pakistan captain shared Virat Kohli’s funny anecdote
When there is a fight between India and Pakistan, a flood of emotions comes to the fore. The pressure of this match is clearly visible on the players of both the teams, but there have been some occasions where there has been a fun-filled atmosphere between the players of both the teams. Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed shared one such anecdote of Virat Kohli when he was stunned by the Indian batsman’s reply.
Sarfaraz Ahmed told while talking in Nadir Ali Podcast –
“Talked to us about the atmosphere of the India-Pakistan match and was asked what do you answer when people ask for tickets? I asked Virat Kohli to answer first. I said- bro, why don’t you answer first? Then Virat Kohli started and kept on talking. The press conference was in England. I looked at Virat Kohli and thought when will the brother stop?”
Ahmed further said – “Virat Kohli was continuously talking in English and only one thing was going on in my mind that who will translate so many things? I listened continuously and said in my reply – this is the answer. I thought that’s a simple question, but Virat Kohli gave a huge answer.”
Both the captains were questioned about the atmosphere in the World Cup match between India and Pakistan. Kohli decided to answer first and Sarfaraz Ahmed was surprised to hear his answer.
Virat Kohli said –
“Look, an India vs Pakistan match is always exciting, but we keep saying this again and again, it’s very different from how the fans see it. Yes, when you walk into the ground, you can see the excitement and enthusiasm of the players. But once it enters the field, it becomes a professional match.”
Virat further said – “The bowler tries to use his style, the batsman tries to perform to the best of his ability. For us it is like any other match and as a team we just want to win.” The atmosphere in the stadium is completely different and hence the pressure is more. As I said, you feel it till the match starts. But when you are inside the ground then there is a cricket match for all of us.”
Virat Kohli finally said – “This is the truth, this is what the cricketers of both the teams feel.” In response, Sarfaraz Ahmed said very comfortably, “My answer is the same.”
