West Indies Cricket: Sunil Narine announces retirement from international cricket
Sunil Narine has said goodbye to his eight-year international career. He last played a T20 match for West Indies in August 2019.
Sunil Narine posted the information on Instagram :-
Sunil Narine wrote on Instagram, “I appreciate that it has been over four years since I last played for the West Indies but today I am announcing my retirement from international cricket.” “Publicly I am a man of few words, but privately there are a few people who have given me unwavering support throughout my career and helped realize my dream of representing the West Indies and I express my deepest gratitude to you Express my gratitude.”
This is Sunil Narine’s career :-
Narine came into limelight when he played in the Champions League T20 for Trinidad and Tobago in 2011 and made his international debut in an ODI match in December the same year. He played 122 international matches, including six Tests, 65 ODIs and 51 T20Is. He helped West Indies win their first T20 World Cup title in 2012 – their first World Cup win in all formats since 1979. After this he played only one more edition of the T20 World Cup in 2014.

Sunil Narine will continue to play for the Knight Riders franchise in various leagues :-
Since 2012, Narine has been a regular fixture in the Kolkata Knight Riders team and is now a familiar face in the T20 circuit around the world, with it now being “business as usual” for him in the near future.
He will continue to play for the Knight Riders franchise in various leagues – KKR in the IPL, Abu Dhabi in the International League T20, Trinbago in the Caribbean Premier League and Los Angeles in Major League Cricket. He is also a part of the Hundred Men’s competition with Oval Invincibles and also plays in the Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League and Bangladesh Premier League.
In 2014, Narine was first reported for suspect action following which he withdrew from the ODI World Cup the following year. This played a role in his sporadic international appearances.
Now 35 year old Naren has his eyes on the domestic trophy :-
He wrote, “[My father] is there with me every time I go on the field and I am grateful for his support and love, which kept me going at a time when I questioned whether pursuing my dreams would be possible. Really worth it.” “I love representing the country of my birth, Trinidad and Tobago, and adding another title by winning the Super50 Cup would be the best farewell for me.”
This current Super50 Cup will be his last cup in List A cricket.
