IND vs AUS: Australia announces team for T20I series against India, strong return of Smith and Warner

IND vs AUS, T20I series: Matthew Wade has been made the captain of the 15-player team for the T20I series between India and Australia starting after the World Cup 2023.

Australia gave rest to pace trio :-

Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, the backbone of the fast bowling attack of the Australian team playing in the World Cup, have been rested for this series. Also, in view of the preparations for the upcoming Test summer, the all-round pair of Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green will also be sent back with Australia.

Apart from this, Ashton Agar has not been considered for selection as he is still recovering from his calf injury.

Also, David Warner and Steve Smith, who did not play in the South Africa tour, have returned to the team.

Australia’s selected team includes Matthew Wade, Jason Behrendorff, Sean Abbott, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Tanvir Sangha, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa.

George Bailey, chairman of the selection panel, said :-

Speaking on the selected squad, Chairman of the Selection Panel, George Bailey, said: “This is an experienced squad with a mix of players, including some who have got their first opportunities on the international stage and we hope to be key players for us. Will keep emerging.”

“Taking on India on home soil is always a big challenge. Most of the team has good experience of playing in India, including eight members of the current ODI World Cup squad as well as Tanvir Sangha, who is currently Are traveling reserves.”
