No threat to Rohit’s captaincy, Chetan Sharma can become chief selector again

There is no threat to Rohit Sharma’s ODI and Test captaincy. BCCI indicated this in the review meeting of Team India. Board sources said the officials have not found anything unsatisfactory about his leadership in ODIs and Tests.

Rohit-Dravid attended the BCCI review meeting in Mumbai :-

Captain Rohit Sharma along with head coach Rahul Dravid attended the review meeting in Mumbai. The meeting was moderated by BCCI Secretary Jai Shah. NCA chief VVS Laxman, BCCI president Roger Binny also attended the review meeting along with the previous selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma.

Rohit will continue to captain in ODIs and Tests :-

A BCCI source told PTI, “Rohit will continue to lead India in Tests and ODIs. There was no such discussion regarding his future as captain in both these formats. His captaincy record in Tests and ODIs is impressive. It was also decided that the pool of 20 players would be rotated till the 2023 World Cup.

Chetan Sharma can become the chief selector again :-

Chetan Sharma, who attended the review meeting on Sunday, is likely to retain the chairmanship of the senior national selection panel once again. Sharma’s inclusion in the planning roadmap till the 2023 ODI World Cup is an indication that he could be made the chief selector.

New T20 captain Hardik Pandya was not a part of the meeting :-

At the moment, India’s focus is on qualifying for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). India has a good chance to make it to the finals. The focus on the 2023 ODI World Cup was also discussed in the meeting.

New T20 captain Hardik Pandya was not a part of the meeting. Hardik is in Mumbai for the T20 International series against Sri Lanka starting on Tuesday.
