Sourav Ganguly’s security cover was upgraded to the Z category
Sourav Ganguly Z Security: Former Team India captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly will now be under the ‘Z’ category security. The Bengal government has decided to increase its security. Earlier Sourav, known as Bengal Tiger, had got ‘Y’ security. According to media sources, there was no request from Ganguly regarding his security, but why the government decided to increase his security, nothing has been said by the government nor has any statement from Ganguly, has come to the fore.

In our country, VVIPs are given security under five categories – Z+, Z, Y+, Y, and X category
Z+ Security: This is India’s top security, in this security there are more than 10 NSG commandos and 55 trend police force personnel, who are engaged 24 hours under the supervision of the person concerned. All these commandos are martial arts specialists and they are equipped with modern weapons.
Z Security: This security consists of 6 NSG commandos and 22 trained police force personnel. They also know martial arts and they are also equipped with modern weapons.
Y+ Security: This security consists of 1 or 2 commandos and 2 PSOs. Sourav Ganguly had got this protection till now.
Y Security: 1 or 2 commandos and 8 police force personnel are involved in this security.
X Security: X category security consists of 2 armed police personnel accompanying the concerned person.
